Andy Fry OBE

 Professional Biography

Andy is a strategy, performance improvement and governance expert, working with organisations to support them in achieving excellent outcomes, as well as maximising their efficiency and effectiveness through the application of governance best practice.  He has a strong track record in the field of organisational change and works as a coach and facilitator to improve the individual and collective performance of people in senior leadership teams.

Andy has a wealth of leadership and governance experience himself, having operated at Corporate Director and Chief Executive level in the local government and fire and rescue sectors for over 15-years.  He also worked in the Welsh civil service as principal advisor to Welsh Government ministers on fire and rescue policy and is the former Her Majesty’s Inspector of Fire Services in Wales.

In addition to being a CfGS Associate and former Chief Executive of the organisation, Andy runs a successful business providing a wide range of consultancy support.  He is an associate Local Government Association (LGA) advisor and trainer, specialising in public sector governance and civil resilience. He is also retained by the Home Office as a civil resilience, and fire and rescue subject matter expert, undertaking various projects overseas on behalf of the UK government.

Andy was made an OBE by Her Majesty the Queen in the 2018 New Year Honours, for services to the fire and rescue sector.
