After deciding to change her career which was in the banking and finance sector, Annette graduated in 2012 from the University of Central Lancashire with a First-Class Honours degree in Public Health. This included studying the social determinants of health. Annette is particularly interested in how nature/the natural world influences both physical and mental health. She is passionate about health research and has presented her research at several academic conferences.

Since graduating Annette has worked in local authorities. This work has included leading on projects within the public health arena and in communications, engagement and policy within local authority child and adult safeguarding.

Annette has also worked in the voluntary sector, focussing on health and social care issues. Most recently Annette has worked as a facilitator for an Anti-Bullying charity, working with young people and teaching professionals to raise awareness of this important issue.
