Cath Buckley
Cath joined the CfGS team in June 2023 on a fixed term secondment. Since graduating from the University of Liverpool she has worked in a range of data analysis, policy/strategy and governance roles.
Cath’s substantive role is at Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council where she leads the scrutiny and partnership team to deliver support to board members, Councillors and officers to coordinate a range of scrutiny committees and strategic partnership arrangements. The team’s reach extends beyond the local authority to regional arrangements such as the Merseyside Police and Crime Panel and Cheshire and Merseyside Joint Health Scrutiny Committee.
Cath is passionate about improving the culture around governance, so that everyone sees its value. She is keen to assist others to unlock the potential within their local governance systems, by supporting those involved to understand their role in the process and how their input can make a difference to the lives of people who live in their local area.
Outside of work, Cath is a mentor for the Girls Network, an organisation that aims to empower young women.
