Health Scrutiny and Assurance Conference 2019

July 18, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

£175

With the publication of the NHS Long Term Plan, an expected Social Care Green Paper and the drive towards integrated services through Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships and Integrated Care Systems, health and care continues to feature as one of the most high profile policy challenges we face as a country. Tackling inequalities and improving population health are key to successfully keeping people healthy and living independently for as long as possible, as well as making sure that people can access effective treatment and support when they need it. Overview and scrutiny and other forms of local assurance have a vital role to play, providing democratic and other links between national policy makers, commissioners, providers and the communities they serve. As champions of local needs, councillors and others with an assurance role help to safeguard the quality and safety of health and social care as well as promoting actions on the wider determinants of health.

Following our successful events in 2017 and 2018, this national conference will explore current and future health policy and identify the key areas where health scrutiny and other forms of governance and assurance have a role to play in strategic planning, service delivery and ‘holding to account’. Expert speakers will help delegates consider the most important issues that they need to be considering in their areas and practical, interactive workshops will give opportunities to explore how overview and scrutiny and other forms of local assurance can tackle the challenges ahead.
