How we look after our sick and elderly continues to be one of the most pressing challenges we face as a country. For the health and social care sector, this involves intense consideration of funding for social care, pressures on the NHS, integration of health and care services and the impact of Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STPs) and Integrated Care Systems (ICSs).
Overview and scrutiny and other forms of local assurance are vital components in this picture, providing democratic and other links between national policy makers, commissioners, providers and the communities they serve. As champions of local needs, councillors and others with an assurance role help to safeguard quality and safety across health and social care.
Following our successful event in 2017, this national conference will explore current and future health policy and identify the key areas where health scrutiny and other forms of governance and assurance have a role to play in strategic planning, service delivery and ‘holding to account’.
Expert speakers will help delegates consider the most important issues that they need to be considering in their areas. A series of practical, interactive workshops will give opportunities to explore how overview and scrutiny and other forms of local assurance will tackle the challenges ahead.
