Overview: Understanding health and social care

This interactive one-day workshop about understanding health and social care is aimed at councillors and officers involved in health scrutiny and others interested to learn about the value that scrutiny can add to the quality and outcomes of local health and care services.  

Through participation in this session delegates will:

  • Better understand how health scrutiny powers can help build relationships with commissioners and providers;
  • Develop a clearer understanding of the way health and social care services are planned and delivered;
  • Explore real-time data to consider how scrutiny can tackle health inequalities.

The purpose of session is to stimulate thinking about the best ways to use health scrutiny powers to strengthen impact.

Themes to be explored include:

  • Rationale for health scrutiny – what are the powers? 
  • How health and social care services are planned and delivered
  • Mapping the local health and care system 
  • Identifying key local relationships
  •  Outputs and Impact

Places cost £179 + VAT per person for voluntary/charity and Local Authority and £209 + VAT per person for commercial sector delegates.
