Helping members to understand governance change in Warwick

The client and background

Councillors in Warwick wanted to explore the possibility of changing their formal governance arrangements, potentially moving away from the leader/cabinet model.

What we did and the impact

We designed and facilitated three workshops for members – the first worked with them to set out some design principles – the features that they all felt a new system had to possess. The second and third went into more detail on the ways of working and structures that would need to be put in place to deliver the objects of these principles. It meant that councillors were able to agree on an approach, despite eventual agreement and implementation being delayed as a result of the pandemic.
