Scrutiny of your council’s budget and medium-term financial plan has never been more crucial. How will local authorities manage the impact of the pandemic, the task of local economic recovery, uncertainty about changing community demands, plus a lack of clarity from government on the future of funding?
These financial challenges demand the highest quality of support from council scrutiny.
On Thursday 9th September from 11am – 12:30pm CfGS is hosting a free webinar on financial scrutiny – specifically designed to help scrutiny committee members and chairs.
It will offer practical advice on tackling the above issues, understanding how to interpret your council’s risks and opportunities in the current climate. And crucially, how to provide constructive challenge in the budget development process that helps to shape and improve outcomes.
This is a session via Zoom that is suitable for scrutiny members with a with range of local government finance experience, including those with no previous experience. The focus is on scrutiny of policy and strategy, rather than scrutiny of accounts.
Space is limited so we advise signing up quickly to avoid disappointment.
