Audit and scrutiny workshops

London, 18th November; Leeds, 27th November; Southampton, 9th December; Birmingham, 16th December

Calling all chairs of audit and chairs of scrutiny

Following a successful pilot last year, we are delighted to announce that we are running four free, in-person workshops to explore how audit and scrutiny can use different skills and approaches to complement each other’s work.

We are looking for the chair of audit and the chair of scrutiny from an authority to attend together ideally. If your authority has a specific finance or budget scrutiny committee, the chair of that committee would get the most use from the workshop.

What’s in it for me?

At this workshop you will work with other audit and scrutiny chairs to explore the responsibilities of each function in detail. There will be activities designed to get under the skin of each role, mapping connections and interdependences, with a view to building on connections for the benefit of the authority and its residents.  Audit and scrutiny are different functions, who look at things through different lenses, however they do intersect, and that intersection if capitalised on, can be a strength and benefit for both committees.

Where and when?

There are 4 regional workshops, each will run from 10am to 3:30pm

  • London – 18th November
  • Leeds – 27th November
  • Southampton – 9th December
  • Birmingham – 16th December

Please e-mail Sarah Fenn (sarah.fenn@cfgs.org.uk) if you have questions or to find out more. We are working on a first come first served basis and both chairs should attend together if possible.
