Councils Under Intervention- OFFICER Event

October 31, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm

Join us for an informative online roundtable event, for council officers, brought to you by the Centre for Governance and Scrutiny, focusing on the topic of ‘Councils under Intervention’.

Date: 31 October
Time: 4:00- 5:15pm
Platform: Online, via Microsoft Teams

This event is tailored specifically for council officers who are directly involved in or affected by council interventions. Whether you are currently managing an intervention, possess first-hand experience, or anticipate being involved in one in the future, this roundtable discussion promises to provide valuable insights and facilitate discussions on this pertinent issue.

What we will be discussing:

Past Intervention Experiences: Learn from officers who have navigated through previous interventions, as they share their experiences, both successes and challenges.

Preparing for Potential Intervention: Equip yourself with knowledge and strategies to prepare for the possibility of council intervention.

Information Seekers: Officers seeking a deeper understanding of council interventions are welcome to listen and learn from the discussions.

We will be joined by James McLaughlin, Assistant Chief Executive at Sandwell MBC, who will be providing an introduction from his experiences.

Please note that discussions during this event will adhere to the Chatham House Rule. CfGS’ role is to facilitate the conversation and share generic observations based on our collective experience of working within intervention councils. We will not be identifying individuals or Councils.
